Congratulations from an Iranian!
Assad has fled and the rebels have all but secured Damascus. Syria can finally go back to normal and begin its healing process. I hope your new government is one that respects and represents all its people. I am sorry for what the IRGC and Khamanei have done in assisting Assad and his government. Unfortunately, they’ve held the Iranian people hostage for 40 years as well, and most Iranians wanted nothing more than for them to leave Syria.
I moved to the United States when I was six and one of my first friends was a Syrian Christian from Idlib. The civil war and destruction of Syria really weighed heavily on my mind, especially for my friend. His family members back home had to flee due to radical Islamists taking over their town. My friend has been wary of the new rebels but has some level of optimism since minorities haven’t been persecuted by the new take over. Hopefully there will be no more bloodshed.
