Could current Sonic and Shadow defeat Solaris if it wasn't omnipresent

So my friend and I were arguing about this for around 30 mins and he's claming that since Sonic and Shadow have became drastically stronger (especially in generations) with their latest powerups and such putting them above their 06 super forms, Base form Modern Sonic and Shadow can be able to defeat Solaris in a scenario where it's only in the present

I'm just curious what you guys think.
