Finished S01 and i got thoughts...

Ok listen, im gonna crash out for a min. First of all i've never read the book, i literally just found out this is an adaptation So i'm only talking about the show here

When i read the premise i was pumped, it reminded me of fallout and yeah we love a post apocaliptic show right? But then i started watching and i find they change the main caharacter 3 times in the first few episodes. this is not necessarily a bad thing but it just fells annoying, like we have to keep rediscovering the big conspiracy with each of this characters and its like ok we get it lets move on. But later (besides the awkward expositon dialogue that keeps happening all the time) the show just kept frutrating me more and more

Take the Mayor for example. When we first meet him we get the vibe that he is definetly the bad guy, the way he speaks, he inmediately lets us know his ulterior motives ( i think he was trying to conceal them??? But like come on) and i thought cool ok he is the bad guy. But then an episode goes by and with no character development he becomes Jules ally? Which ok strange but obviously he is faking right? Wierdly enough she doesn't even question it but she keeps wierdly showing off how much she distrust her new partner, yk the guy who was put there BY THE MAYOR, yk to TAKE HER PLACE. Like ok girl you might not like him but maybe think of the bigger picture? Sometimes it made me think she was the dumbest character which sucks when you are dealing with a sci fi mistery that said character has to solve

And get this, later on when its reveal the mayor was the bad guy all along, which was a moment that CLEARLY was supposed to be THE BIG REVEAL i felt like i was being gaslit bc wdym the evil looking suspicious guy that suspiciously did not want the main character to get to the truth and people around him who went against him kept suspiciosly dying, IS THE BAD GUY???? WHAT ???

It pissed me off so bad

But not as much as. The. F**ing. Screens. That had to be the laziest most boring twist they could've come up with for that story.

Wdym we spent a whole season trying to figure out why de evil ppl didnt want them out, and trying to make us see how crazy and controlling they were. Making it all a (very on the nose) metaphor for a facist goverment, just for then prove them right?

Ok so the outside is toxic. THEN WHY PUT VR IN THE HELMET TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE IT WASN'T TOXIC??? " Well they only clean if they see its safe out" THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE??????? And jules seems to know the vr is there bc she looks for the sherifs body to put the plaque on and doesnt even flinch when she sees her hand go frough the projected image but min later she sees the birds and for some reason only THEN se realizes its fake?? GIRL YOUR HAND JUST WENT THROUGH THE FLOOR WDYM It just feels like they thought of the plot twist and then the story or how it all fits together

And what is that whole thing about not letting the rebels reproduce ? They do know ideas are not spread by dna right? We see this over and over through the season, in fact every character that goes out to clean was very much NOT a rebel, they became one just before they go out.

Anyway.

In the end ik its just a show but it pissed me off sometimes.

Thanks for reading and its ok if you don't agree hopefully you enjoyed it more than I did genuenly
