Anyone getting Mormon vibes from Lumon?

Maybe this is just because I just finished reading the book Under the Banner of Heaven, which delves into Mormon history. But a lot of the symbolism and iconography of Lumon seems similar. The paintings, the statues and monuments to Kier and the founders, the obsession with a weird mythological history, it all smacks of Joseph Smith and Mormonism.

And of course, Mormon history is rife with racism. The way they tried to reinvent history by inserting Milchick into the old paintings, could be seen as an analogy for a religion trying to erase parts of its heinous past.

Maybe I am reading too much into it but I can see Severance as at least partially a critique of religion in general. The "innies" are like children who are indoctrinated into a faith. They believe it all without questioning, no matter how silly or ludicrous it seems to an outsider. And the leaders of that religion (the Eagan family) use that unquestioning faith to enrich themselves while feigning concern for their employees (children).
