What are the absolute best handhelds in terms of button quality, and actually premium build quality?

I want to start off by saying that I've watched and read reviews for quite a lot of handhelds, and in many cases, reviewers claim, "These buttons feel great!!!" for just about every handheld they touch. My experience has not been like that.

For instance, I think many Anbernic devices have OK face buttons, but the shoulder buttons are horrifically bad. While I’ve seen some decent dpads, I recently received a device where the dpad felt okay in three directions, but the up input was extremely mushy and felt completely off. I took it apart and tried rotating the rubber membrane, and my bad direction shifted, meaning the rubber thing itself was defective. I also tried buying a Trimui Brick because people described it as high quality, but the shoulder buttons ALL 4 OF THEM each felt completely different to press. I actually laughed at how incredibly bad it was.

So, I'm still looking for a high quality handheld that feels like a real Sony or Nintendo device in terms of build and controls. Should I buy an old PS Vita? Are there any folks out there with higher standards for controls who have had luck finding something better?
