Classes Expired

I have an 8 class per month membership at my studio. I was traveling and then got sick and only made it to 3 classes in that monthly period but once it was over, my remaining 5 credits disappeared. I was under the impression that they rolled over - is this normal? If I don’t use those 8 classes in that month they go away?
