Did I give the right advice?
I work at Spencer’s - the land of shitty jewelry. However, sometimes people come in asking for advice and it’s usually basic enough stuff (like telling them to use saline solution instead of rubbing alcohol)
Today a girl came in asking about a piercing bump on her tragus; it had been pierced about a month ago, with a hoop made of some cheap looking gold-colored material.
I directed her to a pack of titanium flatbacks and let her know that switching it to one of those may help the bump (since hoops tend to drag bacteria through the hole), I also grabbed a bottle of saline solution for her. That was out of the kindness of my heart, not the company of Spencer’s pushing us to upsell on every single transaction. IYKYK.
I told her to wash her hands before switching it, and use saline on the piercing after the new jewelry is in. If it was too tender or the bump grew at all, I referred her to a different more reputable piercer than the original one she had gone to to put the new jewelry in for her.
Was everything I told her correct? Is there anything I should add next time? I want to make sure I’m not giving out false advice. (I have 10 piercings of my own though, I know a fair amount but I’m not as experienced as some of y’all)
