Visiting for a week

So there is this digital marketing conference next month in Manila and I plan to visit it. It is only one day but I will probably stay for a week. What I wanted to ask is if I should worry about my safety as a solo traveler (30 m from Eastern Europe) during my stay if I only stay near Makati? I have not been to the Philippines before but I know that there are some very shady places, similar to anywhere else.
