POE 2 campaign is not a fun experience

The story, lore, design and aesthetics are great. However, the actual gameplay mechanics of the campaign are not good: 1. Crafting is almost never an option because Regal and Exalted orbs are so scarce. Even when it is possible, it is a complete gamble. 2. Mobs crowd the screen way too much, stun and push a lot. It causes a lot of moving back to try to line up mobs. It feels like playing a zombies game. 3. Checkpoints are too scarce. And they don’t remain open after completely opening a zone. Going back to the zone means locating the checkpoints again. 4. Resistances are way too emphasized especially for bosses. The problem is the RNG of getting them. This means RNG in how easily you die to a boss.

Potential fixes: 1. Increasing drop rates of Regal and Exalted orbs. Reduce respec cost drastically, or give more Gold per enemy. Put back Orb of Alteration that was in POE1. 2. Only allow stun and pushing from bosses. Reduce mob density and increase monster health slightly. The current density in not in line with the slow and methodical way of positioning play that was introduced by the dodge roll and movement penalties. 3. Allow save anywhere function or at the very least, increase the number of checkpoints. It feels terrible to go back through the same long area just to die from an on-death effect and do the same thing again and again. Not fun and a complete waste of time without any meaningful progression in a campaign, I can somewhat understand it in endgame but not here. 4. Resistances should not be RNG based. Boss progression is necessary for completing the campaign, so you can’t have resistances needed for bosses based on RNG.
