Breeding/Ranching feels extremely punishing.

Trying to find a food solution for my bases, and decided to try out breeding for food.

The resources and time involved in making cake alone make this feel impossible. I get more food from the scraps I find exploring the world.

As it stands, I'm either spending ALL of my time trying to breed with extremely little reward, or hunting food and immediately needing to go hunt more.

Either way, food production needs to be re-thought, or improved.

With that frustration out, does anyone know of a good source of food? me and my pals are starving..

EDIT1: in my frustrations on breeding for meat, I did not mention that the pals I am struggling with are specifically pals with work suitability level 3. I have provided hot springs, and hot tubs and shelter and the fanciest of beds. They refuse to work due to poor working conditions. The only time this isn't the case, is when I can provide them with the fancy meat dishes (IE mammorest steak). currently, the salads get maybe 5min of work out of them.
