Fan noise and overheating
Was having all sorts of issues with my PS4 pro. Unbelievably crazy loud fan noise, to the point I had to play with a headset. Ruined the experience of any sort of game that was trying to create a quiet tense atmosphere (last of us part two, resident evil two etc). Eventually started to immediately get overheating shutdown message after short time playing.
Got it professionally cleaned and paste reapplied. The problem isn't quite as bad now but the fan is still very loud on certain graphically demanding games.
After speaking with friends who have regular PS4s and encounter none of these issues, I changed the resolution settings down from 4k to 1080p, kept HDR on automatic.
Now everything I play is practically silent, with the odd temporary increase in reasonable fan noise now and then.
I'm starting to be convinced that the PS4 pro hardware in general was just not ready for true 4K gaming. I mean yes of course it can achieve it, but when your console sounds like a jet taking off in the process, well is it really worth it?
