Best Cinematography of 2022?
All Quiet on the Western Front won Best Cinematography in 2022, and it was the second film eliminated in the “Best Cinematography Elimination Game” on this subreddit. What should have won instead?
My picks…
From the nominations: All Quiet, I guess? Maybe Tár? Honestly a really horrible year for cinematography nominations if you ask me.
From any film: Aftersun. Such inventive, intriguing, and stunning cinematography. Obviously the Oscars weren’t going to honor it at all, but I think it’s the best cinematography of the year.
Honorable mentions: Babylon and RRR both have phenomenal cinematography, and both would’ve been really, really great wins. They at LEAST should have been nominated for sure. And Nope is an easy 4th place for me. Also should have been nominated for sure.
