Need your help
Hey everyone, this is my first post here, and I’m considering buying my first watch. Currently, I’m wearing an ML Aikon that I received as a gift, but I’d like to treat myself and buy an Omega.
Here’s my question:
I have the opportunity to buy a pre-owned Speedmaster Moonphase from December 2023 for €8,800. The watch was purchased from an authorized dealer. I assume (and hope) that its condition will meet my expectations, but let’s just assume for now that the watch is in top condition for €8,800 (box and papers included). A new model costs €12,600.
For the same price as the pre-owned Moonphase, I could get a brand-new Speedmaster Professional. I’ve already tried on the Professional twice, and while I always find it stunning in pictures and often come back to it in my mind, I find it a bit underwhelming when it’s actually on my wrist.
I like the Moonphase even more, despite not having tried it on yet, partly because of its higher water resistance.
What would you do? Do you always buy your watches brand-new, maybe even directly from Omega? Or is there no issue with buying a pre-owned watch from an authorized dealer? Saving €4,000 sounds appealing, assuming the watch is in good condition.
As for comparing the Professional and the Moonphase — does anyone have experience with these two models?
In the end, I know a lot of the answers to my questions will boil down to personal preference and taste — but I’m still curious to hear your thoughts!
