Smokies Trip Camping Q’s

Hi all- planning a trip to the smoky mountains coming up.

Does anyone know if you can car camp at the big creek or the elkmont camp site? I tried finding it on the website but I’ve gotten mixed answers.

Secondly - if you’re hammocking at a front country campsite does it have to be directly over the pad or can it just be within the camp?
