Does this seem reasonable?

Hello! You were all super helpful last time I had a question so thought I’d reach out again.

Would you mind telling me how much you earn and how much your mortgage payments are? Is it manageable?

We’re looking at taking out a mortgage for £300k (on a £320k house).

Between us we earn just over £90k a year. So looking to borrow about 3.3x our annual salary which I know is generally accepted. We take home about £5k per month.

In terms of outgoings we have no children and we pay about £700 (between us) a month in loans and credit cards etc. Council tax and bills for this house would come to about £400 monthly.

Based on £300k at the current interest rates we’d be looking at around £1750 a month for our mortgage payments.

Is that a crazy amount for our combined salary? Obviously it depends on one’s lifestyle in terms of spend, but I just have no idea in reality how big people’s mortgages are vs their income.

Our mortgage advisor seems to think it’s affordable based on the budget planner we gave them but they probably encourage larger mortgages for a larger commission?

Thank you!! 🙏
