How does socializing with people your parents age go these days? Can you be friends? Do they still try to parent you? Is the generation gap too different?

Personally at 37 I've found that I have more in common with older people the older I get and can talk to them like normal adults. I don't know about being close friends but I don't have a problem socializing and being friendly. Sometimes I think the generational gap appears. Maybe they aren't into the same things as me or feel too old to be keeping up with it.

As far as parenting I feel it's more noticeable with family members I grew up with as a kid. They still ask if I need help or worry about me when I go out and I occassionally have to remind them that I'm not that little kid anymore. For the most part they don't baby me and I don't think they want to. Anyways that's some observations I notice.
