Driver sought in hit-and-run crash that left pedestrian dead in downtown Los Angeles

Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in downtown Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.

The crash was reported in the area of 6th Street and Los Angeles Street around 5 a.m., a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed.

Arriving officers located a 50-year-old male victim down in the roadway.

The unidentified man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, the spokesperson said.

Video showed the victim’s shoes and hat lying in the street as investigators worked the scene.

The driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled on foot, according to police.
