Has anyone brought retinol to Japan?

I’m flying out in August and I wanted to know if I needed to get the Yunyu Kakuninsho for some retinol cream I have prescribed. The list on their website is super confusing so I’m not sure if it counts as a prescription drug (allowed to bring one month supply) or a Drug for external use (can bring up to 24). Has anyone had experience with this? I would ideally like to bring several months supply so I have a cushion while I figure out how to get it in Japan with an extremely rural placement.
