High Pitch sound from ear buds

I have the JBL Tune 130nc TWS Bluetooth ear buds. I woke this morning to really bad high pitch noise and couldn't figure it out. Soon as I opened the case to my ear buds, it stopped.

Has anyone else had this experience? I've had the case die before without the noise. But it's at 50%. Sits on my night stand when not being used.
