WOW. Interview canceled within 24 hrs. Will be hiring internally for the role. Is this common?!
I just studied all weekend for an interview to be told by the HR account manager today that they decided to hire someone internally for the role. It was for a 12month Contract Tier 2 Help Desk-remote. This sucks!!! I not only reviewed all of my basic IT material and my personal knowledge base full of learned info, but studied this company in depth (culture, mission, core values, products/services, number of employees I’d be servicing, etc). I even re-installed AD, ServiceNow, and started a second VM project to display I’m capable of setting up user accounts, role assignment, and group policy for enterprise. I was excited to show that I’m not only eager to learn more but do my own self study and experimentation as well. All of this for basically a nevermind with 24 hrs to go til interview time. She was very apologetic in letting me know and stuff but damn I’ve been looking for months and just when I get some hope-burned. This one hurt bad man, I was so ready! Is this typical of contract IT work or is this happening across the board lately bake cause companies are saving a buck where they can. I’ve been applying for steady for 7 months. I just wanted to get my foot in the door, learn as much as possible, and move up. I just need to get in.
