Summer house ceiling resetting?

Whenever I try to paint the ceiling or put ceiling tile/panel, after I leave the house or simply save and exit and come back the ceiling goes back to white? it also doesn't give me any money back so that's also annoying, is this a bug? and if so is there a way to fix it?
