Key fob battery discharges rapidly

How long does your key fob battery last? I have to replace mine every 6 months which seems insane to me as I never used to replace it that fast on other cars I owned. Is this normal for golfs? I don't have start/stop button on my car I start it with the key. I know it's not a big expense and my car has treated me nicely over the 2.5 yrs of owning it without any problems at all but this kinda annoys me.
