New dust 2. The uneven ground makes smokes very hard to land?
I recently tried out the new Dust 2, and I think the map looks very good, but as I tried out different smokes, I noticed that almost everywhere the smoke bounced, the ground was so uneven that the trajectory drastically changed the direction of the smoke.
This resulted in that the lineup of the smokes had to be almost pixel prefect because of the fear that the smoke would just bounce in an unintentional direction. For example, if you try to throw a smoke from XBOX that goes into CT, the ground outside CT is so uneven that the smoke bounces way out of it's original direction. Again, I tried to line up a similar smoke like the old one from outside longhouse that should land on xbox. I noticed that the smoke had to land prefectly on the "railing?" on short becuase of it's " ^ " shape. My initial thought was that I would probably enjoy the map more if the textures acted more flat than they visually seem to be, for more reliable smokes. And sure the "standard" smokes can easily be reinvented to get a reliable version of itself, on the other hand, trying to make a cleaver smoke on the go, now seems almost impossible because even if you get the angle right, you can't rely on the ground it impacts.
I haven't tested the map enough, this was just an initial thought that popped into my mind, that could be interesting to discuss. What are your thoughts about this, do you think it's a problem?
