Anybody else have better numbers not following diet?!

I am 14w, got diagnosed at 9w. Ever since diagnosis I’ve been following the diet, eating 3 meals plus snacks throughout the day, including a right before bed snack. My daytime numbers are great, my fasting is consistently between 105-130. I’ve tried something different for dinner and bedtime snack almost every night trying to get my fasting numbers down. My midwife even suggested trying ALL carbs right before bed as a last resort prior to insulin to see if THAT would work. Nope. Wasn’t the worst numbers I’ve had but still not under what it’s supposed to be.

Well the last 3 nights we’ve been on vacation and I’ve been so discouraged so I just said F it and ate what I wanted.

Night 1 8:30ish pm: I had.. a lot of pizza and breadsticks. 🥴 1 hour was high. 2 hour was good. Did NOT have a nighttime snack. Next morning fasting was 88! That’s the lowest it’s been since diagnosis!

Night 2 8pm: I had pizza & breadsticks but not a feral amount like the night before. 😂 1 hour was 134. Nothing to eat or snack on after that. Next morning fasting was 91!

Night 3: I had an entire Jimmy John’s sandwich at 9pm. (Yeah yeah lunch meat. I choose to eat it.) 1 hour was 118. I have a Dexcom and didn’t even have a delayed spike- numbers were great all night. Fasting this morning was 98, technically higher than my team wants BUT that’s 10-20 points lower than “normal”!

I don’t see my midwives for a few weeks so I can’t ask them in person but I was wondering if anyone else has similar experiences? Should I continue not having a pre bed snack and see what happens or are the numbers being skewed due to me not having a pre bed snack? Thanks!
