Could someone help me identify this fruit?

This has been growing in my backyard for the longest time and each year we eat them and they taste like dates. I thought they were dates, but google keeps telling me that dates only grow on palm trees. This is definitely not a palm tree so now I have no idea what I’ve been eating these past few years
