Rewriting Etiquette

So for context, I have written this incomplete multi-chapter ~70k word story back in 2021. It was before I got into the habit of plotting so the story hit a block and I kind of lost interest in working through it. Especially when I jumped fandoms and whatnot. However, the story itself did well and gained some following.

Now that I recently got back into the fandom, I'm back to the drawing board and am reworking my fic to be more coherent and meaningful in comparison to the pantsed mess (at least it had a nice premise) I created almost a couple of years ago.

However, I don't exactly know if I should remove all chapters in my story on AO3 and reupload the new chapters or create a new one instead. I am leaning more toward the first option because it would notify the accounts subscribed to that story that the story will soon be revived. But then I'm afraid the massive reflowing of the story would cause the correlation of the comments on each chapter to become a mess (for example, there are a few comments on chapter 15, but that scene will be moved to chapter 18 - the new readers seeing those comments for the new chapter 15 would be confused and possibly spoiled). Does anyone have any experience in regard to this?

TL;DR: I want to rewrite my story. Should I keep using the old work's space on AO3 or should I opt to create a completely new story instead?
