Fable II glitch, help 😢

Hi all. Sorry to write a post here but since the game is so old I can’t find anything about it. During the first fight to pick up Maze I realized my will spells weren’t cutting it so I bought “Blades”. But now at the top of my screen the text is stuck just saying “Blades” and doesn’t go away. I’ve tried updating, getting rid of the spell, rebuying it, and getting another spell, and it’s just stuck there. Anyone have any tips or recommendations on how to fix? Ik it’s early in the game but I spent all day screwing around in town and I really don’t want to restart.
