Binding a MIDI keyboard to play the piano minigame on PC

I saw a lot of people struggling with the piano minigame in past discussions, but the piano keyboard controls on PC are so unintuitive that as a piano player, I know I can do a literal better job playing the piano for real. Anyone figure out how to bind a MIDI controller of some sort with a piano keyboard to make it work?
