Does this game reward exploration?

I just began to remake. What I mean is, in RPGs, especially JRPGs, when you stray off the main path and go to other areas, you can find extra things like money or items. Does this game have a feature like that too? Or does it guide you to every location eventually? Thank you in advance for your answers.
