Any safety concerns with canned sardines?

It's like everything is out to kill us. Can't use plasticware because our testicles are gonna explode with microplastics, can't eat preserved meats because nitrates/nitrites are carcinogenic, etc.

What's the deal with canned foods? I really enjoy canned sardines as a snack and would be totally happy to eat it daily. But I want to be aware of the risks I am taking by doing so...is the fact that it is canned going to introduce some sort of risk? Given that it is low on the food chain, I assume it doesn't have as much heavy metal risk.

Anyone know of any peer reviewed sources on how bad eating canned sardines might/might not be?
