Can I report someone for prescribing outside their scope of practice?
There’s a customer who frequents our CVS sometimes. Recently he tried to prescribe zolpidem for his wife. He’s a gynecologist, which means it’s clearly outside of his practice. When I pointed it out he started yelling about how he didn’t get this license to be denied by some lowly pharmacist who isn’t even a real doctor. You can see why that irritated me. We had like a 20 minute argument where he would not stop yelling. He mentioned that he’s done it before and honesty had he kept his mouth shut about being a podiatrist no one would have questioned or known if it was outside his scope. Is it possible to report him without getting any pharmacist who has accepted his script in the past in trouble? Or would they also get in trouble for unknowingly accepting a control script from him?
