Prestige mode progress

I’m making a genuine attempt at completing all of the zombies challenges since they all seem simple enough. Is it true that when you prestige, you lose all progress on challenges? For example, if I’ve got 5000 kills with LMGs, do I need to start over from 0 to try and get the calling card if I prestige?
