To the dumpers, are you really happier as portrayed on the surface? Do you ever miss your ex? To the dumpees, how do you cope with seeing your ex move on? Do you find it hard to let go, or have you found ways to heal?
We broke up on good terms, but I was technically dumped. We've decided to remain friends, and I haven't contacted him since our last meeting three months ago, even though I did send him a birthday message because I genuinely wanted to wish him well. We're still mutually following each other on social media, but I've archived our chats and muted him. I never reread the old messages because I don't want to trigger any memories.
However, despite muting him, I found it hard to refrain from checking on him, and I did. I saw my ex's Instagram today, and he seems happy. I genuinely feel happy for him, but I also feel pretty down about myself. Honestly, on the days when he doesn’t post, things are usually much better for me. I guess it’s true what they say: out of sight, out of mind.
I wonder to the dumpers out there—when you're posting about how great your life is and has never reached out, do you ever think about your ex or the good times you had? Or has the present completely replaced everything and erased the past? And to the dumpees, how do you cope with this?
