What's with all the stripped truss rods?
Over at r/BassGuitar there have been a bunch of pictures recently of necks with totally stripped truss rod nuts...
How the hell does this happen?
What are these people DOING to these poor basses?
I own 9 basses, and in my years of playing, I've had to adjust a few truss rods. It's really not rocket science - use the right size hex wrench, then turn the nut 1/4 or 1/2 turn. It doesn't take Hulk-like strength to do this - the nut usually moves with moderate effort. (The truss rod on my Dingwall Combustion is a dream - the adjustment can be made with almost no effort at all).
The truss rod is made of steel - you have to really abuse it to strip that nut.
How do so many truss rods end up getting ruined?
