Get Shadowheart to save her parents without persuasion?

I have been trying to get Shadowheart to save her parents without using persuasion, but nothing seems to work. I took her to the gravestone in the Lower City that she recognizes; she made a comment about the graffiti on the wall near Baldur's Gate; and I took her into the secret cave inside the Cloister of Sombre Embrace. The wiki says that you only need to do two of these three things in order to get her to save her parents willingly, but it also says that she is supposed to mention something about the smell of the city once it triggers? She has not talked to me about the smell of the city. I don't understand why this isn't working. Any suggestions?
