Recieved diagnosis today, also learned our 4.5yo has a chromosome duplication

I wasn’t sure how I would feel the day of my daughter’s diagnosis - turns out it’s mostly just validated and relieved. For a while I had the doubtful thoughts of “What if I am doing all these things for it to be nothing?” Turns out my daughter is somewhere between level 2 and 3. A level 3 on paper so that she can get the support services that she needs. Her doctor did note that in the 7 months it has taken for the diagnosis process she has had soo much improvement even without being able to get into therapies yet. (BUT SOON!) We were offered Clonidine to help with her sleep problems and happily took that but declined ADHD medication for now, as we are hoping OT and speech will help slightly.

The most surprising part was learning that my daughter has an interstitial duplication of the 5Q35.3 and they recommended following up with genetic counseling, as well as being tested ourselves. It’s not usually associated with things like a deletion is but I guess not much is known about it either. Curious if anyone else has had a similar result from genetic testing?
