Do you feel any nerdy hobbies have been gatekept from women? And if it hadn't been do you think there would be more women in said hobby spaces?

I've always found it interesting how countries like the US there is generally a good balance between the genders in nerdy hobby spaces, be it video games, dungeons and dragons, cars (if that counts as nerdy) etc. but in india such hobbies are almost always full of men, but other hobbies like reading and writing (which I think have the least amount of gate keepers) have a good balance between men and women.

So yeah that brings me to the question in the title. Do you think gatekeeping the main reason? Or are there any other bigger reasons?
