Why do mothers hate their daughters?

Pretty much the question.

There is an unseen tension between me (23F) and my mom, which I think we both feel. I am vey scared of her mood, how would she react. She criticises me a lot, but provides me with homemade food-so I remain confused.

Anything I say can result into a conflict. When I present a fact, she goes way above and beyond to prove me wrong.. Only thing we can agree on is how much her in laws are toxic, nothing else.

One more thing I have observed, whenever I try to wear a beautiful dress or saree and its not properly fitted or wrinkled, she makes me feel like I am mad for dressing up.. its really weird... Because I see her very serious about her own dressing sense.

I sense too much tension. She is sometimes randomly in a good mood too, like a loving mom which I wish I really had EVERY DAY.
