What is the current situation on the US-Mexican border?

News here reported there are an estimated 1.3 million migrants from 177 nations on their way to Mexico to try and cross the border. I could not help myself and loudly called bullshit.

Can you explain to me if there is actually another crisis going on? Because it sounds like it. Though I'd love some first hand information on that
