How tight to make amigurumi stitches?

I am generally a loose crocheter (mainly due to me not wanting to fatigue my hands) and I’ve not had any issue this far with making simple amigurumi. However, for the current pattern I’m using to make a doll, the decreases when making the shoes are particularly gape-y with my usual tension, even though I use invisible decreases.

I tried making the stitches tighter and it worked to reduce the gaping, but it’s incredibly tiring. How do I know if I am making my stitches unnecessarily tight? I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep it up for the rest of the doll.

I am using weight 4 yarn with a 3.5mm hook.
