AITAH For Snapping On My Childhood Best Friend Over Realism In Videogames?
My friend whose a gun enthusiast, is always quick to point out why certain guns or tactics in FPS games like Call of Duty are unrealistic, even though he plays them religiously. The same goes for The Hunter: Call of the Wild, where he constantly complains about inaccuracies like repeatedly using scent blockers in the field, hunting big game at night, or running through rough terrain with a heavy kit. I usually remind him, 'It's just a game,' but he never lets it go. Finally, the other night, I’d had enough. I told him he was ruining the fun with his constant critiques and needed to stop focusing on realism and just enjoy the game for what it is, an escape. I mentioned that I was even considering not playing with him for a bit if he kept it up. That set him off, and after some more back-and-forth, I finally told him to just STFU about it. He left the game in a huff, but came back this morning to apologize, saying hes sorry and that he'll try to hold his tongue when it comes to his gaming opinions. I havent responded, im not ending or friendship over something so dumb either. I just want to know if yall think theres something I can say or suggest, or if im an asshole for saying anything at all. Idk, take it away Reddit, do your thing.
