AITA for causing a work argument?

I (16M) work at a fast food restaurant and have since April 2023. While there I became friends with my friend (25ishM) who won't be named. When I first started working I drove a '95 Lexus. It wasn't super special, it was a great car but from a normal POV it was just an old Lexus. Friend drives a 2000s Pontiac G6 with clear coat peeling.

In Feb. my great aunt passed away of cancer. She was the owner of a 1994 Mustang Cobra, Indy Pace Car Replica. One of 1000 ever made. Those who know Fords know this is a pretty rare car. Great conditioncan go for 25 grand.

Anyways, long story short my great uncle decided he wanted me to have it. You're probably wondering, how can a 16 year old even afford that? This particular car wasn't nearly as lucrative due to it having around 100k miles on it (which is excellent for a Cobra, but arguably horrible for a Pace car), as well as that the interior wasn't exactly pristine (she was a smoker). Despite this, the exterior of the car looked almost new. Either way I was sold the car for the sum of $5000. It was a good deal, my uncle was being nice; he could have easily sold it for $6500. Essentially I traded my Lexus to my dad for 8k of credit with him, which covered the purchase, the 2k(ish?) of repairs/upgrades and a large insurance payment. All that left me roughly $300 ahead, which is great since I quite literally have my dream car.

Now, to the point. About a week ago, I was at work, it was a normal day. The topic of discussion was a coworker's middle name, which she claimed was too embarrassing to share and forced us to guess it, with our only clue being that it started with P. Long story short it ended up being Patrice (go figure). Friend makes a joke about how it rhymes with Caprice. I chimed in that I think they look ugly (no hate to Caprice owners, just how I feel). His response, completely unexpected, was something along the lines of, "Oh, you're one to talk, driving that junk Mustang". Another thing to add is that while I am very proud of my car, I don't want to brag about it like a jerk. In fact, in an effort to avoid this exact conversation, I never even told Friend when I bought the car. Obviously he noticed by seeing it in the parking lot, but it was more about the principle of the matter.

Now, friend's dream car is a Corvette. He obviously hasn't achieved this yet, as previously stated he drives a Pontiac. He's married, in his mid 20s, works fast food, rents an apartment, and also vapes. So my response, which I didn't even really process; It just snapped out automatically, was "Oh, yeah? Where's your Corvette, Mr Pontiac?"

This set him off. He starts blabbing about spending my parents money (which he knows isn't true), not paying bills (which is a valid argument, except he's implying I SHOULD), and how it's "Family discount so it doesn't count".

It ended there because a manager shut us down. I didn't immediately think it was a big deal, but the next day I got home to find he blocked me on Xbox. We hadn't spoken since and still haven't.

He's not normally the person to block people immediately or at all. I'm starting to think the fact that he got set off this easily means there's a much deeper issue at hand.

At the end of the day, this was my Great Aunt's car. And the car I've dreamed of having since I was 7. And now I don't even know how to feel.

So...AITA?
